    NFL 1979, Week 10: Atlanta 27, Tampa Bay 26 

    In a wild game in Atlanta, Tampa Bay rallied back with a touchdown pass from Doug Williams to Larry Mucker from 39 yards out with 48 seconds to go, but Neil O’Donoghue missed the point after that would have tied the game. Atlanta recovered the onside kick, ran the clock out, and secured the 27-26 win without starter Steve Bartkowski for most of the second half.

    Bartkowski did enough to win the game’s MVP honors, throwing for 254 yards and a TD before his injury.

    The Bucs now fall to 5-5, the Falcons improved to 4-6.

    NFL 1979, Week 9: Seattle 28, Atlanta 21 

    In a Monday Night game that went down to the last play, Seattle outlasted Atlanta 28-21 on a 9 yard run by Dan Doornink with 1:33 left in the 4th quarter.

    Doornink also took the game MVP award with 99 yards rushing on 26 carries and a TD, also catching 7 catches for 63 yards for another trip to the paint.

    Seattle improves to 6-3, Atlanta falls to a 3-6.

    NFL 1979, Week 8: Atlanta 29, San Francisco 10 

    Atlanta’s second straight trip to the San Francisco Bay Area proved a good one as the Falcons defeated the 49ers going away, 29-10. ¬†Atlanta held possession of the ball an impressive 42:18, usually a sign of domination.

    Steve Bartkowski was the game MVP, passing for 218 yards and 3 TD’s, completing 21 of 28 passes.

    Atlanta now moves to 3-5, the 49ers have lost six straight to fall to 2-6.

    NFL 1979, Week 7: Oakland 35, Atlanta 27 

    In a game with plenty of points, turnovers, and action, it was the Oakland Raiders outlasting Atlanta in a game that featured 62 points and seven turnovers.

    Kenny “The Snake” Stabler took MVP for the game, with an outstanding 388 yards, completing 28 of 38 passes, four completions finding that silver and black painted end zone for touchdowns.

    The Raiders move up to 3-4, Atlanta goes down to 2-5.
