NFL 1979, Week 6: Oakland 27, Miami 24 (OT)

Week 6’s Monday Night Football game was a classic battle between two teams with their share of scraps in the decade of the 1970’s.  After the game had been tied on three occasions, Oakland drove quickly down the field in the first possession of sudden death, with Jim Breech hitting a field goal from 31 yards for the win.

Ira Matthews took the player of the game award.  His electrifying 95 yard kick return for paydirt brought Oakland back to 17-10 late in the second quarter after Miami had built a 17-3 lead.

Both teams have work to do in the 1979 NFL season, with each team now sporting a 2-4 record.
