    NFL 1979, Week 10: Pittsburgh 21, Washington 17 

    The Steelers get the closest they’ve ever been to a loss this season, but a 21 yard pass from Terry Bradshaw to John Stallworth with 1:46 left gives Pittsburgh a come from behind 21-17 win.

    Stallworth also won the game’s MVP award with 6 catches and 115 yards and the decisive TD.

    The Steelers are now 10-0, the Redskins 5-5.

    NFL 1979, Week 9: Pittsburgh 28, Dallas 10 

    In a battle of the previous year’s Super Bowl participants, it was the Steelers getting clutch plays at the right times for a 28-10 win.

    Franco Harris ran all over the Cowboys and took the game MVP.  He rushed for 146 yards on 26 bruising carries, one for a TD.  His longest run from scrimmage was 18 yards, so it was vintage ground and pound from the Silver and Gold.

    Pittsburgh remains undefeated at 9-0, Dallas falls to 5-4.

    NFL 1979, Week 8: Pittsburgh 28, Denver 24 

    In a back and forth tussle on Monday Night, the Steelers held on to push past Denver 28-24.

    Backup running back Sidney Thornton was the game MVP.  He carried the ball 27 times for 165 yards, 3 touchdowns, and his longest gain of the night was just 14 yards.

    The Steelers remain undefeated at 8-0, while Denver is now 5-3.

    NFL 1979, Week 7: Pittsburgh 34, Cincinnati 28 

    Great game at Riverfront Stadium between the Steelers and Bengals.  The Bengals had the defending champions on the ropes for sure with a 28-24 lead early in the 4th quarter.  But the Steelers kept their pride and showed their poise, rallying back for the 34-28 win.

    Terry Bradshaw won the game’s MVP award, with 311 passing yards, a touchdown, and an interception, completing 20 of his 33 passes.

    The Steelers stay undefeated at 7-0, the Bengals fall to 3-4.

    NFL 1979, Week 6: Pittsburgh 21, Cleveland 12 

    The defending world champion Pittsburgh Steelers had a tough battle in Cleveland, trailing 3-0 early.  But the Steel Curtain defense kept Cleveland in check, allowing the Steelers to move to 6-0 with a 21-12 win at Municipal Stadium.

    Dwayne Woodruff was the unlikely MVP of the game, racking up 11 tackles and an interception good for 73 yards and a TD in the third quarter that put the Steelers up 21-6.

    The Steelers are 6-0, the Browns are having problems so far in 1979 at 1-5.
